KC Controls interviews Graham Johnson (Product Manager – Parker Hannifin) who gives us, a simpler definition of how the Parker’s THM Analyzer works and how it can Improve the safety of drinking water.
Recap: Chlorine has always been the industry standard disinfectant for effectively preserving the quality and safety of drinking water. However “disinfection-by-products” like Trihalomethanes(THM’s) can also affect human health. Most water companies rely on external Laboratories to monitor the levels of THM in their water. This is not an optimised way of measuring the levels of THM’s, as results could take upto 3 days or even a week.
Parker’s THM Analysers are a powerful new tool that can help operators optimise water treatment at the plant within 30 minutes, to ensure regulatory compliance and evaluate water age in the distribution system for improved control over the formation of THMs. The analyser can measure chloroform, dichlorobromomethane, dibromochloromethane and bromoform – the four species that make up total THM’s, to within 10% accuracy.
